In Day 9 or our epic family adventure we continue exploring Budapest Hungary. This time we focus on the opposite side of the Danube River, and explore the Royal Palace.
We were still using the Budapest Big Bus Tours to get around and explore this wonderful city. Later on we go onto discover the city by night aboard the Night Cruise.
So Much to See at Budapest Royal Palace
This was such a big day that we had to break it up into two you-tube VLOG’s. These were 100% recorded and edited on my iPhone, to test out how good these amazing gadgets are. I was happy with the results, which show a dramatic improvement on the audio quality compared to the go-pro.
The Other Side of the Danube River
Whilst exploring the ‘other side’ of the Danube River, we found stacks of other great attractions. These included:
- Castle Garden
- Royal Palace
- National Art Gallery
- Funicular
- Matthias Church
- St. Anna Church
- Batthayany Church
It was a strenuous day with lots of stairs and lots of climbing. We ended it at Anna’s Cafe with some awesome caramel sundae and chocolate milkshakes.
Night Cruise Along the Danube River
After our day of exploring we finished of with a 9:30pm night cruise along the Danube River. We went on the Silverline Cruise, which is included in the price of the Big Bus Tours. It’s very good value all in all.
The night cruise was fantastic and well worth the effort. The boat was slow and steady which allowed for some good long exposure night photography and we got plenty of great photos. The only thing missing was a jacket, as it was a chilly 14 degrees.
Overall Impressions of Budapest
We were so glad that we explored the Royal Palace and Matthias’s Church. We didn’t enter the church as the entry fee was quite high. There were quite a few other entry charges along the way, which we avoided except of the National Art Gallery.
It could be quite and expensive day if you included all of these. They’re probably better left for a package tour where entry is included. Overall we saw a lot in our brief 2 day stop in Budapest. Now it’s time to move onto another country for some more tours.
