In Day 10 or our epic family adventure we make the journey from Budapest to Vienna aboard the international train. This was our first international train so it was kind of exciting!
Getting through Kelesi Station Budapest
The details of getting through this train were challenging to say the least. Here are the basic steps we had to follow:
- Pre-book the tickets online at the MAV website.
- Download a pre-ticket reservation form with our reservation number.
- Go to the station and punch in the reservation number to get the ticket from the vending machine.
- Wait until 20 minutes before the train to get the platform number.
- Ask the guard attendant which carriage we’re on, there’s no legible (English) info on the ticket.
- Pass through the passport checkpoint at the border.
- Uber to the Vienna hotel.
Not that difficult all in all, but we had to be careful not to mess up any of the steps. It’s not like a simple train trip back home that’s for sure!
